ABOUT

Hey! I'm Katie, a Graphic Design Student at Iowa State University. I have a passion for working with experimental and physical practices in my work for both printed and digital formats. Creating work that shares knowledge and stories through beautiful craft is central to my work.

Throughout my time in college, I have explored my strengths and curiosities through an artist focus grant, local and international exhibitions, and leadership roles in campus organizations and clubs. I was nominated for the GDUSA Student to Watch 2026 and the JPA Senior in Design Award, and have earned multiple Art Directors Association of Iowa Awards of Excellence.

My surroundings and the natural world deeply influence my work. Many of my projects in graphic design and fine arts focus on representing natural landscapes or on designing for causes and companies that align with these interests. Outside of Graphic Design, I pursue creative works through printmaking, sketching, and painting.

Judge's Choice Runner Up in Design Shift, design-a-thon
Focus Grant Exhibition in the Iowa State University Memorial Union for "Midwestern Beauty" print series.
Nominee for the 2026 Janice Peterson Anderson Senior Award in Design.
Solo Exhibition of work at Morning Bell Coffee Roasters in downtown Ames, IA.
Painting "Response to Elaine de Kooning's Self Portrait" accepted into the Spring Juried Exhibition at the Memorial Union at ISU.

2025

Nominee for GDUSA Student to Watch
Owl Poster accepted into Perceptions V exhibition in Rzeszów, Poland. Only eight of the class were accepted and four of the poster category.
Poster "Scrunched" accepted into Oripeau Open Call Fall 2025. World wide poster competition against professionals for work to be displayed in public areas in cities around the world. Only 27 works were selected out of 120.

67th Annual ADAI Exhibition Best of Category in Advertising Campaigns, Chaco Messaging Campaign
Cuties Sustainability Packaging Redesign voted into ISU Graphic Design Week Exhibition 2025 by ISU faculty
Acceptance into the Iowa State Juried Exhibition, Studies in Creativity. "Carving Lady Slipper" linoleum relief print displayed in the ISU Memorial Union Exhibition Space.
Awarded a Grant through Iowa State University Focus Funded Projects. "Midwestern Beauty" combines Graphic Design with traditional printmaking methods focusing on themes of the Midwestern natural landscape. The work is to be exhibited in March of 2026 at the ISU Memorial Union.

66th Annual ADAI Exhibition Award of Excellence for Guerrilla Gardening Zine
Harry Watts Scholarship Nominee. Received one of ten nominations by the faculty of the Graphic Design Department at ISU for the Harry Watts Scholarship.
